Representatives of Manchester's Jewish community urged Pep Guardiola to be 'more careful with his future language' after he spoke out about Israel's attacks on Gaza.

The Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester & Region said he should 'focus on football', warned such comments can fuel antisemitic acts and accused him of a 'total failure' to show solidarity after last October's attack on the Heaton Park Synagogue, in which two people were killed.

The group posted the statement on X and said they 'implore Mr Guardiola to be more careful in his future language'; Manchester City have been contacted for comment.

Guardiola had given a speech in Barcelona in support of Palestinian children and told journalists the suffering of innocent people 'hurts' him, saying he could see 'genocide in Palestine' and that 'it hurts me', adding he would 'stand up'.
