Goal reports that Marc Guehi could still win the FA Cup despite Crystal Palace's 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield, because of a recent change to the FA's player eligibility rules.

Previously the rule read: "A Player shall only play for one Club in the Competition during the same season." The FA has added: "save that a Player that has played for one Club in the Qualifying Competition and/or the Competition Proper may play for a maximum of one other Club in the Competition Proper (but may only play for a maximum of one Club in any given round of the Competition)." In essence, a player can now represent another club in the same competition so long as it is not in the same round; the change could also allow loan players to appear for a lower‑league side before representing their parent club.

Guehi has been linked with moves to Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, with reports that City increased their interest after defensive injuries and that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich prefer a summer transfer. The story says the rule tweak will have little impact on his eventual move; Palace will still need to hold an inquest after the upset, and Guehi spoke with angry fans after the defeat.
