Guild Wars 1 adds Melandru's Accord 'Ironman' mode — no trading or mercenaries
An update to Guild Wars arrived on Jan. 28 adding Melandru's Accord, a new "Ironman" mode inspired by the community-driven Ironman challenge.
In Melandru's Accord, players must earn all their skills and items without the relief of player trading or mercenaries (special NPC helpers that copy character builds and gear).
Guild Wars mixes deckbuilding with ARPG-esque adventuring and lets players team up in town hubs across different campaigns.
That setup has kept the game drawing a crowd over two decades, even after a very different sequel and a big modernization update.
The Melandru's Accord update arrived Jan. 28 and is explicitly inspired by the community-driven Ironman challenge.
