Guild Wars 2's fashion templates frustrate players
The Raids and Wardrobe update launched this week, adding a raid quickplay option and a new fashion template system meant to let players change their looks more quickly. This is the first major update of the Visions of Eternity expansion cycle and, rather than new maps or story chapters, it focuses on quality-of-life additions.
Transmogrification previously happened through an equipment template's wardrobe: you applied fashion directly to equipped weapons and armour, paid transmutation charges, and tweaked dyes. Under the new system you build a fashion template and then apply it to an equipment template.
That can make it easier to keep a single look across different pieces of gear, and accounts now get two equipment templates and two fashion templates by default. For players with legendary gear or extra equipment slots, though, the change often feels like a downgrade.
