Guillermo del Toro to Attend 4K Screening of Cronos at Sundance
Movieweb reports Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro is scheduled to attend a January 27 screening at the Sundance Film Festival of a restored 4K version of Cronos, his early-1990s feature directorial debut, with the screening to be followed by a Q&A; the outlet says del Toro will take a break from promoting his recently released Frankenstein to revisit the film.
Cronos has been added to Sundance's Park City Legacy program, which revisits titles the festival previously screened; del Toro's debut originally screened at Sundance in 1994, the same year the festival hosted premieres such as Clerks, Reality Bites, Hoop Dreams, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. The 2026 Park City Legacy slate runs January 27–30 and also includes Little Miss Sunshine, Half Nelson, Mysterious Skin, and Saw, with all titles shown in their recent digital restorations.
Per the Rotten Tomatoes synopsis, the film follows antique dealer Jesús Gris, who discovers a 400-year-old scarab that grants youth and eternal life but also a thirst for blood, and who must confront others seeking the artifact. The reporting notes that more than 30 years after its release, Cronos remains a distinctive, character-driven take on vampire horror.
