Gunn says Man of Tomorrow centers on Clark Kent and Lex Luthor
Movieweb reports James Gunn told Variety that the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow is "at its core" about Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
Artwork released so far shows David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex standing together and fighting, with Luthor in his green-and-purple power suit. Gunn has said he relates to both characters — "to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder," and to "Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values." The film will also introduce Brainiac, with Lars Eidinger cast as the villain, and Gunn will return to write and direct.
The article says Brainiac’s invasion will force Superman and Lex to cooperate to save the world, but how long that tenuous partnership lasts remains to be seen. Gunn has described the project as the hardest movie he’s made and has discussed plans for a multi-film "Superman Saga" he hopes to tell across four movies.
