Guy Ritchie's King Arthur Finds New Life on International VOD — Collider

Guy Ritchie, known for action hits including the Sherlock Holmes films, directed King Arthur: Legend of the Sword nearly 10 years ago with Charlie Hunnam. The fantasy-adventure co-stars Jude Law and Djimon Hounsou but was panned by critics, earning a 31% Rotten Tomatoes score.

The $175 million production failed to recoup its cost at the box office, falling short of $150 million and derailing plans for a franchise. It is not streaming anywhere in America at the time of writing, yet it has climbed into the VOD top 10 and become one of the most popular purchases in more than 10 countries.

Its rising overseas popularity suggests a major streaming service may be negotiating an acquisition, even as the film lacks a U.S. streaming home. For now, King Arthur can be rented or purchased on VOD platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV. Ritchie also has a new film approaching: In The Grey, his action thriller with Henry Cavill and Eiza González, is scheduled for theaters on April 10.
