Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly circling adaptation of 'Strangers' memoir
Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow is said to be circling a film adaptation of Belle Burden’s Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage, a memoir that has become one of Hollywood’s most talked-about books since its release.
The book grew out of an essay Burden wrote for The New York Times’ Modern Love column and centers on her 20-year marriage and her husband’s abrupt decision to walk out on her and their children in 2020 for another woman near the start of the pandemic. It is currently No. 2 on The New York Times nonfiction list and has sparked a cultural conversation among female readers. While different in tone, it has struck a similar chord to Miranda July’s 2024 novel All Fours, a racier tale now being developed as a TV series by Starz.
The adaptation is being repped by UTA, and Paltrow—fresh off a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as part of the cast of Marty Supreme—is among the actors attached. It is still early in development, and she is not the only A-list actress reportedly interested.
