Polygon reports that Oblivion Remastered sold 1.1 million copies on PS5, but games-industry analyst Rhys Elliot of Alinea Analytics said in a LinkedIn post that around half of those PS5 players logged fewer than 15 hours.

The remaster shadowdropped last year after around 24 hours of launch rumors and arrived on all platforms simultaneously, Elliot wrote. Global Steam achievement data similarly shows only 55.9% of players have closed an Oblivion Gate — the first main-quest achievement beyond the tutorial — and just 7.5% of players completed the main quest.

Oblivion Remastered is a large RPG with plenty to do off the main path, but its lack of mod support compared with Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Starfield could be a factor in early drop-off. There have also been rumors of Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters tied to the second season of the Amazon Prime show, and if true it will be interesting to see whether players drop off at a similar point or stick with those games longer.
