Hat heist hits Aspen as $2,000 Fouquet toppers snatched from St. Regis
Pagesix reports a thief smashed a display window at the St. Regis in Aspen and stole two limited-edition Nick Fouquet hats from a display outside the hotel’s Snow Lodge. Security photos show an attractive man in his late twenties dressed in jeans and a puffy vest reaching into the display while talking on the phone, and a man in a trench coat who a source says was allegedly acting as a look-out, according to the footage.
The stolen styles were part of a limited-edition collaboration between Fouquet and Snow Lodge’s pop-up with Caviar Kaspia; the hats, identifiable by a signature matchstick in the brim, sell for about $2,000 each. A police report has been filed, and St. Regis owner Stephane De Baets warned, “This is Aspen and crime of this nature never goes unresolved for more than a couple days.” The display, created by artists Benjamin Voutour and Hunter Mcaan, featured a mountain scene with a moving gondola lifting empty caviar tins.
