Hayley Erbert Hough shares home-birth video of daughter Everley: 'sacred, transformative'

Hayley Erbert Hough and husband Derek Hough marked one month with their newborn by sharing an Instagram video of the home birth of their daughter, Everley Capri Hough, who was born Dec. 29. The video includes brief clips across the labor and delivery, showing Hayley in the pool during a water birth as Derek sat beside her and supported her.

It concludes with the new family of three cuddling as the parents hold their baby girl. In an emotional caption, the former Dancing with the Stars troupe member wrote that childbirth revealed a depth of strength she had not known, calling delivery “one of the most challenging things” she had ever experienced but saying “my body and my baby always knew exactly what to do.” She added that even in intense moments she “never felt fearful” and felt held and supported.

Hayley described Everley’s birth as “raw, wild, primal, vulnerable, transformative, sacred,” and wrote, “I have been asked many times if I would do it again, and without hesitation I would do it a million times over again.” She thanked Derek for his “unwavering belief” and her birth team for their care.

“The most powerful experience I have ever witnessed. I am in awe of you my beautiful wife and of all women who endure bringing life into this world ❤️,” Derek replied in the comments.
