HBO’s Baldur’s Gate 3 series hires D&D veteran Chris Perkins
HBO is developing a Baldur’s Gate 3 series set after the 2023 video game, with Craig Mazin serving as showrunner. The game’s multiple endings leave it unclear which conclusion the series will follow, a complication similar to what Fallout Season 2 faced with New Vegas.
Chris Perkins, former Head of Story at Wizards of the Coast and now with Critical Role’s Darrington Press, has been added as a consultant. Perkins has worked with Wizards since 1997 and has held roles including senior producer, story manager and lead story designer on 2016’s Curse of Strahd.
Larian Studios, the game’s developer, is not involved in the upcoming adaptation. Swen Vincke said he is eager to see the show’s direction but that he was "Not to my knowledge" about any Larian writers consulting, and added that Craig Mazin reached out to speak with the studio.
