HBO Max renews Noah Wyle medical drama The Pitt for Season 3

Collider reports HBO Max has renewed Noah Wyle's Emmy-winning medical drama The Pitt for a third season, a renewal announced by HBO boss Casey Bloys at the Season 2 premiere event in Los Angeles.

The surprise renewal came a day before the Season 2 premiere episode is released to the masses on January 8, 2026. The Pitt became one of HBO Max's most successful shows after definitively scratching the itch that fans of Wyle's earlier work on ER previously sated, and the series is noted for portraying emergency medicine with accuracy and for setting each episode in real time over the course of a single ER shift. The show has won five Emmys, including Best Drama.
