Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista Exchange Swords in Highlander Reboot — Movieweb

New set images show Henry Cavill trading blows with Dave Bautista in Chad Stahelski’s long-awaited Highlander reboot, with Cavill cast as the titular immortal warrior. Filming is underway and the photos tease the aerial swordplay that will play a central role in Stahelski’s reimagining.

The images appear to reveal Bautista as rival immortal The Kurgan, wearing what looks like a clerical collar, and suggest the character will deliver the kind of larger-than-life villainy associated with the role. Bautista has said he’s chased the part for years, praising Clancy Brown’s original turn and calling this script a tribute that also expands the world; he adds that the action is on par with John Wick.

The reboot’s ensemble includes Russell Crowe—expected to take the mentor role originally played by Sean Connery—alongside Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Max Zhang and Jeremy Irons. Highlander does not yet have a release date but will be released by Amazon MGM Studios.
