Collider reports that showrunner Todd Harthan says Season 2 of ABC’s High Potential will gradually reveal the mystery around Roman and provide clearer answers about Captain Nick Wagner, with major developments arriving in the back half of the season.

Harthan described the season’s balance between serialized threads and weekly cases, including a two-part Rembrandt storyline that raised questions about art recovery expert Rhys Eastman and why Morgan Gillory allowed him to go. He also discussed Karadec’s evolution from reluctant partner to fiercely protective teammate, saying that their bond has been a “slow build,” and noted subplot beats such as Soto probing why Roman’s backpack put Arthur in danger and the show’s deliberate Thomas Crown Affair–inspired tone for the art-heist episodes.

Harthan said viewers will get many more layers and answers as the season progresses but cautioned the show is pacing revelations so the episodic cases remain central; he described managing the Roman arc as one of the hardest storylines to execute. Season 2 of High Potential premiered September 17, 2024 on ABC and is available to stream on Hulu.
