High Tech Pet’s Power Pet Roll Up Door automates sliding-glass access for dogs
A ZDNET reviewer tested the High Tech Pet Power Pet Roll Up Door, a smart pet door that starts at $630 and automates entry and exit through a sliding glass door using a collar-triggered sensor.
The unit mounts to a sliding glass door frame with a latch and requires constant power; a weatherproofing strip is included. It is offered in door and wall mounting options and three sizes. Physical controls let users open and close the door manually, and two dials adjust indoor and outdoor sensor sensitivity; sensors can also be turned on or off. The roll-up mechanism closes on slight resistance and the panel locks into the sliding door so it does not wobble.
The reviewer said their dog learned the system quickly and used it over the course of a month, including during an overnight trip when the door allowed the dog to go out and back in without human assistance. The door’s operation enabled the reviewer to keep the sliding glass door closed and avoid leaving the house open to temperature changes or insects.
Software and integration limitations were cited as the main downsides: the High Tech Pet app sometimes crashes when setting schedules or has occasional connection issues, and the product does not offer third‑party integrations or Matter support. The reviewer suggested the company may improve the app with updates, but those changes are not yet documented.
