Developer Wildlight added a limited 5v5 raid mode to Highguard five days after launch, saying “You asked, we listened” in a January 30, 2026 post that included a short trailer of the new mode.

In a Steam blog breaking down the update, Wildlight said the 5v5 mode is an experiment for the weekend and is a separate playlist that is not meant to replace the game’s 3v3 matches.

The studio also noted it is working on optimizations across the game and warned that while many improvements are in the patch and 3v3 should see gains, adding four more players is unlikely to improve performance.

The change comes as English-language Steam reviews for Highguard rose to 41% positive, moving the game into an official “Mixed” rating after an initially “Mostly Negative” launch; reviews across all languages sit at 39% positive.

Wildlight’s tweak and ongoing optimizations aim to address early player criticism about empty maps and performance, but how Highguard’s long-term fortunes will play out remains to be seen.
