Hinge will try Tinder-style facial recognition scans
Match Group said Hinge is testing the facial recognition feature Face Check in a number of countries this quarter, an initiative the company announced during its 2025 Q4 earnings call. Hinge plans to test Face Check in Mexico, Brazil, Australia and Canada this quarter.
Match Group noted that Tinder has required Face Check for all new U.S. users since October 2025, made it mandatory for California, and expects Tinder to launch the feature globally by the end of the first quarter in 2026; where rolled out, the company says Face Check has reduced interactions with bad actors by more than 50 percent.
Hinge is also preparing to trial Direct to Date, a feature intended to help daters share availability and preferred activities to accelerate in-person plans, with testing planned for this spring.
