His & Hers finale reveals mother as killer in Netflix whodunit

Time reports that the Netflix series His & Hers ends with a twist: Anna’s mother, Alice, is revealed to be the killer of three women in the small town of Dahlonega, Georgia.

The six-episode whodunit follows Anna, an Atlanta reporter who returns to work after a yearlong leave following the death of her baby, Charlotte, while Alice was babysitting. The investigation centers on the murders of Rachel and two other women—all tied by red friendship bracelets Anna made in high school—and briefly points to Anna’s colleague Lexi (formerly Catherine Kelly) before detective Priya fatally shoots Lexi during a confrontation. Flashbacks show that Anna and Catherine were sexually assaulted as teenagers, a history that fuels much of the suspicion and conflict.

The finale, set a year later, shows Anna pregnant and co-parenting Zoe’s daughter when she finds a handwritten confession from Alice. Alice says she has been pretending to have dementia and that her memory is “as strong as a bear trap,” then describes killing Rachel, Helen and Zoe and writing, "Killing Rachel brought you home. Killing Helen kept you here. And killing Zoe gave you the family you lost." The series ends with Anna and Alice sharing a knowing smile as the confession remains their secret.
