Hoda Kotb Returns to TODAY to Support Savannah Guthrie Amid Search
Hoda Kotb returned to TODAY on Friday, a little over a year after leaving her anchor chair, to support Savannah Guthrie as authorities search for Guthrie's mother. Police believe 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home just outside Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, and are treating the case as a crime.
Kotb described how Guthrie has been there for colleagues in crises: she was first in the hospital room when Kotb's daughter Hope was sick; she flew to be with Carson Daly after his parents died; she sat by Sheinelle Jones following her husband's death; and she was there when Craig Melvin's brother passed.
"We're all so close with her and we all want to help her," Kotb said. Melvin spoke of a "feeling of helplessness" and added, "And we're not helpless because there's prayer, there's hope." The FBI's Phoenix division announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery or an arrest.
