According to Collider, over two weeks after Christmas Day Home Alone 2: Lost in New York topped out at ninth place globally over the past week on Disney+. The sequel follows the original's premise: the McCallisters prepare for a Christmas trip and forget Kevin, who mistakenly boards a plane to New York instead of Miami.

Kevin uses his dad's credit card to check into the Plaza Hotel, meets a kindly pigeon lady and a persistent, Grinch-like concierge played by Tim Curry, and even encounters a future president. The Wet Bandits return from prison with plans to rob the toy shop of a generous old man Kevin befriends while his family races across the city to find him.

It was the last film with Macaulay Culkin, director Chris Columbus, and writer-producer John Hughes working together; critics and audiences were divided, with a 35% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film earned a $359 million box office haul on a $28 million budget. The cast included returning Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, and Catherine O'Hara, alongside newcomers such as Tim Curry, Eddie Bracken, Brenda Fricker, and Rob Schneider.
