Collider reports HBO’s controversial fantasy series House of the Dragon has surged back into the HBO Max global top 10 in more than 15 countries as its third season approaches this summer. The article notes the show’s sister series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, currently sits at #1 on HBO’s global charts.

Both series are prequel offshoots of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones, with A Knight taking place between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Collider recalls that House of the Dragon’s first season was met with widespread acclaim, but the show took a nosedive in Season 2 and was compared to the final season of Game of Thrones by some viewers and critics.

The report also says George R.R. Martin has gone public about a strained relationship with showrunner Ryan Condal, saying the two no longer speak and that his notes on the series are often ignored. Despite those tensions, Collider confirms Season 3 will be released this summer and that HBO has already renewed the series for a fourth season; Condal has said the show will conclude with Season 4.

Ira Parker, showrunner of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, told Collider that his series plans to adapt one of Martin’s three novels per season. HBO has not announced an exact premiere date.
