House of the Dragon Season 3 Trailer Reveals Daeron Targaryen

The Season 3 teaser for House of the Dragon confirms the arrival of Daeron Targaryen, the third son and youngest child of King Viserys I and Queen Alicent Hightower. Long missing from the series, he is now set to play a decisive role in the Dance of the Dragons.

Daeron was absent from Season 1 and only acknowledged in Season 2. In "Rhaenyra the Cruel," Otto Hightower travels to Oldtown to mentor him after King Aegon II fires Otto, though Alicent later instructs her father to go to Highgarden. By "Smallfolk," viewers learn Daeron is serving as a ward of Lord Hobert Hightower in Oldtown; Gwayne describes the 16-year-old as kind, smart, hardworking and a skilled fighter.

The Season 2 finale also showed Tessarion, Daeron’s dragon, soaring above the Hightower host under Lord Ormund Hightower—Tessarion is called the Blue Queen and ranks among the most beautiful dragons. The Season 3 trailer gives a closer look at Tessarion approaching the Hightower encampment near the trees, her saddle empty.
