Time, in partnership with Statista, has published the first edition of the "America's Most Iconic Companies" ranking, a quantitative study intended to recognize American brands and companies for their influence on American culture, economy, and society.

To qualify, companies had to be founded and headquartered in the United States and maintain a market presence of at least 10 years. The study is based on an independent online survey of more than 10,000 members of the U.S. general population, who evaluated a longlist of relevant American companies and brands (with additional nominations supported), producing over 100,000 individual assessments collected in July and August 2025. Additional in-depth research verified companies' eligibility.

Respondents assessed firms on high recognition and familiarity; cultural significance and impact; emotional connection; resilience; and a qualitative judgment of "Americanness" that synthesizes signals such as origin, governance, communication style, design ethos, and public perception rather than relying solely on legal or geographic status. Collected data were consolidated in a scoring model (80% survey results + 20% market presence), followed by expert verification and quality checks. The 250 companies with the highest scores were ranked and featured on the "America's Most Iconic Companies 2026" list. See the full list.
