How to breed animals in Hytale

Breeding animals in Hytale isn't available yet, but you can capture and tame many creatures to build a farm of rabbits, sheep, pigs, and cows. Update (Feb. 18): With Update 3, taming mechanics have been added to Hytale. Before capturing, build a large enclosure—one block of wood yields two fence blocks at the builder's workbench—and choose between two methods: a capture crate or luring with food.

Craft a capture crate at the farmer's workbench using four pieces of wood and 50 essence of life; hold the crate and left‑click a small animal to capture it, then left‑click again while the crate is equipped to release it. This method only works on the smallest animals, including calves, lambs, foals, rabbits (all sizes), baby pigs and swine, mice, frogs, meerkats, and armadillos.

To lure animals you must first tame them with their preferred food, then hold that food or a feed bag to make them follow you. A tier 1 feed bag is crafted at the farmer's workbench from 10 wheat, 10 essence of life, five vegetables, and five fruits.
