How to unlock parry in Nioh 3
Pcgamer explains how to unlock parry in Nioh 3. The parry is a purely defensive Samurai ability that does not damage enemy Ki and therefore won’t stagger foes, but it grants Ki regeneration and Arts ability energy and can be the very first skill you unlock. To acquire parry you must unlock the Deflect skill in the Samurai tree.
This is available after you complete the prologue/tutorial, beat Yamagata Masakage, and arrive in the open world Warring States map with Honda Tadakatsu. Head up the hill for the title sequence, then descend toward the Prospect Hill shrine and loot the corpse on the right side of the path to get a Samurai's Lock needed to purchase the skill.
Open the menu (press start), go to Acquire Martial Arts/Ninjutsu, open the Samurai tree at the top, and buy the Deflect skill (the first on the right side). Once unlocked you can parry by pressing the guard button — F on keyboard or left bumper on controller — just before you get hit.
