Goal reports USWNT legend Hope Solo has returned to the pitch through The Soccer Tournament (TST), this time fielding teams in both the women's 7v7 competition and the newly introduced Mixed 7s after stepping away from the game.

Solo said she left the sport following a suspension, contract termination and subsequent fallouts, and that TST offered her “something she hadn’t felt in years: a reason to come back.” After forming Solo FC and playing in goal last spring, she returns with unfinished business and a goal to build a global, diverse squad.

This year Solo plans to play less to protect her body and to give younger goalkeepers valuable minutes, while prioritizing diversity on her rosters and involving her family in the tournament. “I probably wouldn't be back in the game if it weren't for TST,” she said.
