I switched to a Bluetooth Auracast receiver for my home theater setup - and have no regrets
A report from Zdnet says Sennheiser's RS 275 TV Headphones bundle includes the HDR 275 headphones and the BTA1 Auracast transmitter, bringing Auracast capabilities to both home and portable use. The review highlights the BTA1 as the standout component that expands how TV audio can be delivered.
The BTA1 connects to a TV (the reviewer used an optical connection), is powered by the TV, and can automatically detect and switch to the active source. Optical output does not support Dolby Atmos, and Sennheiser's Virtual Surround Sound sounded digitized to the reviewer rather than recreating object placement.
Zdnet notes the BTA1 can stream to multiple Auracast-enabled receivers and speakers, letting users avoid brand lock-in and route audio to different rooms or multiple headphones. The Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app can toggle Auracast and lets an iPhone act as an Auracast assistant, while native Auracast support on devices such as the Google Pixel 9 Pro is required to connect some third-party headphones directly.
