In-engine cooking teaser hints at Black Myth: Zhong Kui's demonic world
To celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Horse, Game Science released a six-minute cooking show that doubles as an in-engine teaser for Black Myth: Zhong Kui. Following Black Myth Wukong's 2024 release, Zhong Kui will be the second installment in the Black Myth series.
The first game won multiple awards, though it did not win the Game of the Year category at The Game Awards. The video teaches how to make a fish soup while showcasing the new game's visuals and atmosphere. Scenes include a woman chopping vegetables, a possessed fish, a man opening a seashell to ask a seemingly friendly demon for meat, chives taken from a sleeping demon-baby plant, red mini-demons ground to death, and a fruit plucked from a passing tree-man.
The cook places the finished dish before a masked prisoner, watched by a guardian who may or may not be Zhong Kui; it's hard to tell in the dark. Game Science describes the clip as "non-canon and for entertainment purposes only," framing it as a graphics and setting showcase rather than a story reveal.
