Beincrypto reports Internet Computer (ICP) surged more than 39% over the past week after DFINITY published the MISSION70 whitepaper on January 13, 2026, a proposal that targets at least a 70% reduction in token inflation by the end of 2026.

The whitepaper outlines a dual approach: supply-side reforms expected to provide 44% of the reduction—including lowering voting rewards, node provider rewards, capping reward pools and a simpler maturity modulation mechanism—and demand-side measures intended to deliver the remaining 26% through higher network usage from AI-powered on-chain applications and new cloud engine products. At current prices, DFINITY projects this would require raising the cycle burn rate from 0.05 XDR per second to 0.77 XDR per second. Market data showed ICP near the top of daily gainers on CoinGecko with about 26% in 24 hours, Santiment noted the token led large-cap assets by market-cap gains of +39%, Nansen reported exchange balances fell by more than 58% in 24 hours, and Chainspect recorded roughly 90 million transactions in one day—the network's highest daily activity in over a month.

Analysts cited similarities with November 2025 price structure and remain constructive if momentum continues, but the market will watch whether DFINITY can deliver the proposed economic changes and whether the price rally reflects lasting fundamentals or a reaction to anticipated developments.
