I've never felt smarter than playing this nostalgic horror puzzler — Pcgamer

My uncle's dead, and I have his old PC in all its crusty Windows 95-inspired glory. With my 20-something years of accumulated computer knowledge I rummage through files and folders to solve a series of intricate puzzles left behind to unfold a missing-person case.

It begins simply enough — clicking through folders to find where the next puzzle lurks — but Desktop Explorer pushes every trick I know for navigating a PC: changing file types, uncovering hidden folders, resizing windows (very difficult), and skulking around someone else’s internet history to uncover passwords that unlock the next challenge.

The whole package leans into '90s nostalgia with rugged, basic grey design and a stationery-based mascot yapping in the corner. Behind the pastel background and calming vibes there are light horror elements; glitches creep in during the demo and the atmosphere turns ominous as the mystery deepens.
