Jane Wickline Plays a Screaming Luge Athlete in SNL Winter Olympics Promo

The sketch aired during Alexander Skarsgård's January 31 episode and showcased several winter athletes: snowboarder Tanner Lopez (Marcello Hernández), figure skater Claire Hardt (Chloe Fineman) and luger Gertie Burper (Jane Wickline). Tanner says, "No one said it would be easy, but it's all worth it when I'm out on the slopes with my board." Claire adds, "When I'm on the ice, I feel alive.

It's my purpose." Then it is Gertie's turn. Wickline's Gertie bluntly declares, "I hate the luge. It's way too fast! It scares me to death, and I seriously hate it." She jokes that "a corpse that's my same shape could win," while her coach, played by Skarsgård, calls her "a once-in-a-generation...shape." Gertie's secret to success: "I just go straight down like everyone, but I scream the whole time," and "The name of the game for me is to confuse and ultimately silence my survival instinct." The sketch even shows the coach distracting her with a spider before pushing her down the track.
