Jared Padalecki Says Supernatural Finale Is His Favorite

After 15 seasons and nearly as many episodes as there are days in a year, Supernatural built an enormous catalog. The series often rested on the bond between Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), and Padalecki has named the series finale, "Carry On," his favorite — a choice that surprised some viewers and remains one of the show’s most debated episodes.

Padalecki told Entertainment Weekly, "The series finale is my favorite episode of all time," and later posted on X, "I love all of my children equally, but this one is my favorite." Years earlier he had favored Season 6’s "The French Mistake," but by the time filming wrapped he clung to the finale, saying he cried every time he read the script and praising its "wonderfully tragic" and "wonderfully optimistic" tones.

The ending divided fans: some considered it the best possible conclusion under the circumstances, while others thought the show should have ended years earlier, possibly when creator Eric Kripke departed after Season 5.
