Jason Momoa says Lobo’s DCU future is uncertain after Supergirl debut
Jason Momoa says the longevity of his Lobo in the DCU is unclear after the character’s grand entrance in this summer’s Supergirl, he told ScreenRant while promoting The Wrecking Crew. Momoa said, "I only know Lobo's in this one, and so we'll see what the future of all that holds. I would love for his own thing to be coming out.
I don't know if there is. I think it's probably up to the audience and how they feel about it, but I think he's got his own things mapped out and I'm not privy to any of that," according to the ScreenRant interview. He described stepping into Lobo as a "pinch-me moment," adding that his first scene is "pretty gnarly" and that he was "pressed to see another actor pull off that first take." Momoa said he approached the role with gusto.
A first full-look at Lobo appeared in a trailer last week, showing the antihero’s motorbike screeching to a halt after cruising through flames and highlighting his black leather jacket, dark eye markings and fangs — even though the character doesn’t speak in the footage. The character has never appeared on the big screen before; the only prior live-action Lobo was Emmett J.
Scanlan in the second season of Krypton (2019). Momoa also told TODAY that playing Lobo was his "ultimate dream," adding, "I wanted to play him more than Aquaman, this is it." Supergirl, directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
