Jason Statham’s A Working Man Tops Prime Video After $89.2M Box Office
Collider reports that Jason Statham’s most recent film, A Working Man, has risen to the top of Prime Video’s streaming charts worldwide as his next movie is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks.
The kidnapping thriller pairs Statham with Michael Peña and David Harbour and follows Levon Cade, who is pulled back into action to help recover Joe Garcia’s kidnapped daughter Jenny. Along the way he faces foes such as Dimi (Maximillian Osinski) and Dutch (Chidi Ajufo) and ultimately prevails. The film was written by Sylvester Stallone and directed by David Ayer, earned a 47% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 87% audience score on Popcornmeter, and grossed $89.2 million against a $40 million budget; Statham and Ayer previously worked together on The Beekeeper, which grossed over $160 million at the global box office.
Amazon has not announced whether it is developing another Working Man sequel and it may be a one-and-done, but Statham is confirmed to return for a sequel to The Beekeeper, due to premiere before the end of the year; David Ayer will not direct that follow-up due to a scheduling conflict and has been replaced by Timo Tjahjanto. A Working Man is available to stream on Prime Video and Amazon MGM+.
