People reports that former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg said on Sunday, Jan. 11 that he is leaving Suicidal Tendencies. In an Instagram post, the 35-year-old thanked the band "for bringing me onboard for an incredible year and a half of shows!" and called the experience "an absolute blast." He wrote that he has been dedicating time to passion projects like @portraitsofanapparition, collaborations, and "finally building a proper at-home creative space," and said he will shift focus as he prepares to become a first-time father after he and his wife Chloe announced in November 2025 that they're expecting.

Weinberg expressed deep respect for his former bandmates and fans, writing, "Though I won’t be jamming with the fellas, I can’t possibly overstate the love and respect I have for them, the Suicidal Army and extended family, and all the cyco fans I’ve met across six continents." He added, "You guys picked up a friend when he was down, and gave him the opportunity to truly feel the message of 'You Can’t Bring Me Down' at a time when he needed it the most." The drummer noted he can’t "quite conceive of my life as a drummer without the profound influence of Suicidal Tendencies," and said there is "a lot of work left to complete over the next five months" before his focus shifts to fatherhood.
