Celtics star Jaylen Brown was hosting a panel in Beverly Hills at the mansion of Oakley sunglasses founder James Jannard, which is listed for $65 million. Local police arrived and shut the event down, alleging it did not have the proper permits and closing the panel at 7 p.m.

Brown posted on X, “Beverly Hills is so trash I’m offended had a great panel about the future of culture with great guest people worked hard for this how dare yall,” and in a video added, “I know I play for the Celtics, and I know we’re in LA. But hey, I didn’t think y’all would do me like this.” An LA sports insider who was not involved said they felt particularly bad for Brown, noting the gathering was for “thought-leaders” rather than an over-the-top affair.

Organizers reached out to Oakley for comment but did not hear back. Nearby, Kenny “The Jet” Smith hosted a star-studded All-Star weekend party at the Sheats–Goldstein residence owned by Jimmy Goldstein that went off without a hitch. Guests included Chris Rock, Spike Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen, Stephen A.
