Jenny McCarthy rules out returning to The View
People reports that Jenny McCarthy said she will never return to The View after discussing her time on the show during the Jan. 6 episode of The Katie Miller Podcast.
McCarthy, who served as a co-host in 2013 and 2014 during season 17, said producers originally wanted her as a "light, fluffy, and fun" panelist for topics such as Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor, but that role "lasted a whole week" before the show moved into political discussions. "The reason why they wanted to bring me on is because they, quote, said it was too polarizing," she said, recalling moments when guests were told they would discuss a "hostage situation and whether the United States government should pay the ransom or not," while she felt she "just know who won Dancing with the Stars."
McCarthy said she is "much more political" now because "our latest administration has helped so much," but added that when producers have asked her to appear on reunion shows she replied, "over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place." When asked whether she'd be invited back to the show, now in its 29th season, the outlet reached out to a rep for The View for comment.
