Jesse Lingard hits back at critics after leaving Seoul: 'I don't care what anyone says'
Jesse Lingard has hit back at those who criticised his professionalism since leaving Seoul, telling Sky Sports he has learned from tough times and will not be swayed by negative comments.
Lingard said there are "always going to be tough times mentally when you are not playing well and you are getting stick from fans" and that "sometimes you have to go through that and learn".
He added he is "at a point where I don’t care what anyone says, I don’t care what anyone thinks - at the end of the day they are just words. I don’t listen to any negative stuff."
Lingard said the "majority of the stuff is positive" and that he likes "to be a good guy, put smiles on people’s faces, be the bubbly guy" but insisted "when it is time to work, I work."
Rejecting portrayals that he "messes about a lot," Lingard said people have "misconstrued" him, noting "of course I am going to dance - I love a good dance in the right place and the right time. But when I am on the training pitch and on a game day, it is 100% work mode."
