Jetpack Cat's kit in Overwatch is already causing mayhem
Jetpack Cat debuts when Overwatch’s revamped season launches on Feb. 10, but she’s already proving a menace. A handful of streamers who played the upcoming characters at Blizzard’s Irvine campus said she turned matches on their heads and pushed teams to rethink compositions.
Most of the chaos comes from her tether, which lets Cat carry an ally through the air with almost no restrictions. Players used it to make position-based ultimates nearly unstoppable — throwing D.Va’s exploding mech behind cover, giving Cassidy an aerial view for Deadeye, or taking Reinhardt behind enemy lines so he could cast Earthshatter unseen — in part because the initial grapple is surprisingly hard to spot and the sky(box) is literally the limit.
Combos multiplied the threat: Soldier 76’s Tactical Visor, Wrecking Ball dropping mines from above, Wuyang’s Tidal Blast detonating in the middle of a group, or undoing an Orisa Terra Surge.
