Cbssports reports the Golden State Warriors' postseason hopes took a hit Monday night when Jimmy Butler went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury in a game against the Miami Heat.

With 7:41 left in the third quarter, Brandin Podziemski floated a pass to Butler; as he went up for the catch Davion Mitchell collided with him and Butler came down awkwardly on his right leg. He screamed in pain, was unable to put weight on the leg and was helped to the locker room. All the Warriors said on Monday night is that Butler suffered a "knee injury," and he is headed for an MRI, though there is fear throughout the franchise that he tore his ACL.

If Butler's season is over, Golden State's campaign would be as well. The Warriors were already facing a steep second-half climb to get above the play-in line, and without Butler — who was in the middle of a terrific season — the report said they would have no chance in the playoffs even if they qualified. The best-case outcome would be a hyperextension or MCL sprain that might allow a return this season; anything more would likely affect the team's trade-deadline plans.
