Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, 19, scored a three-minute-from-time winner as Aston Villa came from two goals down to beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 at Villa Park, with Ollie Watkins forced off injured in the first half. Unai Emery, whose team had already qualified, made six changes from the side that beat Newcastle and kept Watkins in the starting XI.

Salzburg were ahead on 33 minutes after Tyrone Mings gave the ball away and Edmund Baidoo’s cross was diverted over the line by Karim Konaté despite Victor Lindelöf’s efforts to keep it out, and Watkins went off on 35 minutes clutching his hamstring before Morgan Rogers replaced him.

Salzburg doubled early in the second half when Kerim Alajbegovic crossed for Moussa Yeo to score, but Rogers reduced the deficit with a near-post finish and Mings headed Villa level from Matty Cash’s cross. Jimoh-Aloba then tucked Kadan Young’s low cross into the corner for the winner, ensuring Villa finished second in the 36-team table.

Rangers’ campaign ended with a 3-1 defeat at Porto, who sealed a last-16 place. Djeidi Gassama gave Rangers an early lead, but Rodrigo Mora levelled before Francisco Moura finished after a mix-up between Jack Butland and James Tavernier, and Emmanuel Fernandez then headed an own goal from a Porto corner.
