John Godwin says twin granddaughters were born early and treated in NICU
People reports that Duck Dynasty star John Godwin said on the Duck Call Room podcast that his twin grandchildren, Cassandra and Isabella, were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit after being born early.
Godwin said his daughter, Johanna Mata, had high blood pressure and was put on a 24-hour watch for preeclampsia. He said the family was "awful anxious" to take the babies home and recalled rushing to the hospital after Johanna called, saying, "They're here too early." He added the twins were born safely, and that Johanna "had to have magnesium," was "pale for a couple days," and "didn't even get to hold 'em for a day and a half."
The twins remained in the NICU, according to a Dec. 28 update from their mother, Johanna, who wrote on Facebook that "both are off CPAP, light blankets, and feeding tubes!" She said they are "working on eating and gaining weight, and monitoring their oxygen and hearts as they learn to do all the things they need to do to come home," adding, "They are excelling in everything and we are hopeful that maybe we are looking at coming home very soon!"
