Rowling after she spent the past seven years denouncing transgender rights. Mason-Hyde praised Lithgow as 'such an incredibly talented actor' and 'a very loving and a very guiding co-star,' saying they never felt invalidated or doubted in their identity. Still, they called his involvement 'vaguely hurtful' and described the casting as 'strange' and 'disconcerting,' adding that actors must also make a living and questioning whether they should bow to exterior pressures.
