Jonathan Nolan has offered the first public reaction to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, calling the film 'tremendous' and 'an incredible achievement.' Set to land on the big screen this July, the epic adaptation of Homer's poem stars Matt Damon as King Odysseus, whose long journey home brings encounters with sirens, a witch and the cyclops Polyphemus.

Damon described the project as the 'pinnacle' of his 'entire career.' That praise gains context given his work with directors such as Martin Scorsese (The Departed), Steven Soderbergh (the Ocean's trilogy), the Coen brothers (True Grit), Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan) and Ridley Scott (The Martian), and an Academy Award for Good Will Hunting.

The brothers have collaborated for more than 25 years. Jonathan's short story 'Memento Mori' became the basis for Memento, he contributed (uncredited) to Batman Begins, co-wrote The Prestige, and helped complete the Dark Knight trilogy; they reunited for Interstellar in 2014 but have largely pursued separate projects since.
