Goal reports Jorrel Hato praised new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior after the Blues thumped Charlton 5-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.

The 19-year-old opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, powering home a bouncing ball from the edge of Charlton's area with a fierce left-footed strike. Efforts from Toisin Adaraboiyo, Marc Guiu, Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez extended the lead in a ruthless second-half display. Hato, voted man of the match by TNT viewers, said Rosenior "has his own way to play football and I think it is a good way and it suits us," adding the squad had held a lot of meetings to learn the new manager's approach in a short time.

Rosenior, who departed RC Strasbourg to replace Enzo Maresca, described Hato's goal as coming at an important moment and "a brilliant goal for Jorrel." The strike arrived during lengthy added time after a delay to treat a medical emergency in the crowd. Rosenior is the first Chelsea manager to win his debut since Antonio Conte in August 2016 and will face Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday, before hosting west London rivals next Saturday.
