Julian Gerighty leaves Ubisoft to join EA's Battlefield Studios
Pcgamer reports that Julian Gerighty, the executive producer of The Division series, announced he is leaving Ubisoft to take a position at EA's Battlefield Studios, posting on X that "The Division's future burns bright, and I can't wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on."
Gerighty spent more than 25 years at Ubisoft, rising from "market knowledge manager" to creative director on The Crew before moving to Ubisoft Massive in 2014 to work on The Division, The Division 2 and Star Wars Outlaws. He was announced as the executive producer of The Division in 2023, when Ubisoft revealed The Division 3 is in development, and a week ago he told the New Game+ showcase the new game is "shaping up to be a monster." The announcement comes three days after Ubisoft announced layoffs at Ubisoft Massive following a "voluntary career transition program" that failed to pare numbers sufficiently; the report notes this timing does not necessarily mean the layoffs affected Gerighty directly.
The piece says Ubisoft Massive denied a months-old rumor that Gerighty had left as "far from true," and describes the departure as seemingly amicable, but it is unclear how his move will affect The Division 3 beyond his own statement. The article also recalled the October 2025 departure of Assassin's Creed vice president Marc-Alexis Côté as a recent example of leadership change at Ubisoft.
