Julián Quiñones nets 17th, moves past Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Golden Boot race
Mexican striker Julián Quiñones scored his 17th Saudi Pro League goal on Jan. 31, 2026, heading home for Al-Qadsiah in a draw against league leaders Al-Hilal, Goal/Getty reported.
His powerful header came in the 76th minute from a corner delivered by Musab Al-Juwayr, beating goalkeeper Bono and sparking celebrations for Al-Qadsiah.
The strike extended Quiñones’ scoring run to eight consecutive league matches, underlining what Goal described as one of the most impressive seasons by a Mexican forward abroad.
With the goal he temporarily moved into second place in the league’s scoring chart, putting him ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo; only Ivan Toney, with 18 goals for Al-Ahli, sits above him in the Golden Boot race, the report said.
Despite his club form, Quiñones has yet to fully convince Mexico coach Javier Aguirre ahead of the 2026 World Cup and faces competition from Santiago Giménez, Raúl Jiménez, Germán Berterame and Armando González, Goal noted — leaving his national-team role unclear.
