Kate Hudson says son Ryder wants to pursue acting

Kate Hudson revealed that her 22-year-old son Ryder wants to pursue a career in acting. She shared the news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight about her Oscar nomination for "Song Sung Blue," and noted he’s set to graduate from New York University this year, calling him "the first in like three generations to graduate from college." Hudson said she appreciates that Ryder "wants to be doing good work" and is focused on college rather than chasing camera time.

She added that growing up in their family means you have to understand the craft and believe in it differently if you’re going to do it, referencing their showbiz background that includes Goldie Hawn. Ryder also enjoys designing and building furniture; Hudson gushed, "Wow, you’re so cool," and called him "fantastic." Hudson is also mother to son Bingham, 14, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani, 7, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.
