Kate Hudson: son Ryder, 22, hopes to follow her into acting
Kate Hudson said her eldest son Ryder wants to pursue acting, revealing the news during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight about her Oscar nomination for Song Sung Blue. “Oh yeah,” she replied when ET host Nischelle Turner asked whether Ryder, 22, wanted to become an actor.
“He’s graduating from college this year, can’t believe it, so exciting,” Hudson added, noting, “I think he’s the first in like three generations to graduate from college.” Ryder is set to graduate from New York University in May, and Hudson said what she appreciates is that he “wants to be doing good work.” “He’s really focusing on college, he’s not trying to get in front of the camera just to get in front of a camera,” she said, adding that growing up in their family — which includes her mother Goldie Hawn — means “you gotta understand the craft and believe it in a different way if you’re gonna do it.” Hudson also shared that Ryder is selective with his projects and has other interests, including designing and building furniture.
